EDM601 is a universal dielectric for electrical discharge machining — for sinker EDM machines and for wire EDM machines running oil technology. It covers roughing, finishing and fine finishing in one tank, on steels, carbides and non-ferrous metals. It is used neat: fill, filter, top up. It mixes with certain other dielectrics, among them Blaser SOREPI LM and Blasospark GT250 — so a changeover does not necessarily mean running the tank dry first.
The drum is the standard container for day-to-day production and costs around 17 % less per litre than the canister — the same quantity in canisters costs a good 200 EUR more. It is moved with a drum lifter, a pallet truck with drum adapter or a rotating drum cradle.
Colourless, transparent, very low in odour, with only minimal aromatic hydrocarbons — the point where EDM oils differ most noticeably on the shop floor. Because the fluid stays clear, clouding in the tank is a warning sign rather than a normal state.
It is formulated for low viscosity at a high flash point: thin enough for narrow gaps and deep cavities, with an adequate margin to the working temperature in the tank. The figures are in the table above this description. Add low evaporation, good filterability and low electrode wear — service life depends on filtration, not on the calendar.
