EASYCUT PRO302 is a semi-synthetic, water-miscible coolant made in Germany for shops where aluminium sets the pace — housings, profiles, series work on soft alloys — while steel and cast iron still run through the same tank.
Aluminium is where a general-purpose fluid quietly costs money. Staining on a finished surface, a smeared edge, a part that has to be re-run: none of it shows up as a coolant problem on the invoice, it shows up as scrap. PRO302 carries an EP additive that UNI301 does not, and that is the whole technical difference between them — the base, the mineral oil content, the refractometer factor, the corrosion protection and the water range are identical.
Which also means the decision is cheap. PRO302 costs around 3 % more per litre than UNI301 and needs no change to your routine: same measurement, same factor, same mixing. If aluminium is an occasional job, UNI301 is the economical choice; if it is the bulk of the work, 3 % is not the number that should decide it.
Corrosion protection to DIN 51360/2, grade 0 already at 4 %. On aluminium this is the figure that protects the finished surface, and PRO302 reaches the test's best grade below the usual working concentration.
Refractometer factor 1.3 — the Brix reading times 1.3 gives the concentration, so 5 °Brix is 6.5 %. Running rich does not improve the finish on aluminium; it brings residue and foam. Measure with the refractometer, daily at high consumption.
Make-up water 5 to 30 °dH, stable in use to around 60 °dH. Hardness climbs in the tank with every top-up, and on aluminium a drifting mix shows in the surface before it shows anywhere else. Details in Mixing coolant and water quality; the weekly checks required by German TRGS 611 are in The functions of coolant. pH at 5 % is 9.9 and falls in use.
Series work on aluminium is exactly the case where the drum pays: around 17 % less per litre than the canister, and 208 litres of concentrate give roughly 2600 litres of working emulsion at 8 %. The mixing unit mounts straight onto the drum, which keeps the concentration repeatable across refills — on aluminium that consistency is worth more than on steel.
