EASYCUT UNI301 is a semi-synthetic, water-miscible metalworking coolant with around 30 % mineral oil in the concentrate, boron-free, made in Germany. It covers cast iron, steel, stainless steel and a large part of the aluminium alloys — the step for shops with a mixed programme that would rather look after a single tank.
The EASYCUT range is built as a series with a growing material range. BASE201 is enough for cast iron and steel. UNI301 adds stainless steel and aluminium and is the value choice as long as aluminium is not the main job. As soon as aluminium sets the pace, PRO302 is the right step — the same basis, additionally tuned for aluminium, and only around 3 % more per litre.
Refractometer factor 1.3. The Brix reading is multiplied by 1.3 — so 5 °Brix is 6.5 % concentration. Without that factor the reading is not the concentration. Measure with the refractometer, daily at high consumption.
Corrosion protection to DIN 51360/2: grade 0 already at 4 % — the best rating the test gives, and below the usual working concentration.
Make-up water 5 to 30 °dH, stable in use to around 60 °dH. Because water evaporates and the minerals stay in the tank, hardness climbs with every top-up — in hard-water regions, treated water for topping up pays off. The connection is covered in Mixing coolant and water quality.
The pH is 10.1 at 5 % and falls in use. A sustained drop of more than 0.5 points is the early warning that the mix is going off — what else has to be checked weekly is covered in The functions of coolant.
The drum is the standard container for day-to-day production and costs around 17 % less per litre than the canister. From 208 litres of concentrate you get roughly 2600 litres of working emulsion at 8 % — so compare prices per litre of emulsion, not per litre of concentrate. It is moved with a drum lifter, a pallet truck with drum adapter or a rotating drum cradle; the mixing unit mounts directly on it.
Which type of coolant suits which operation in general is explained in . The data sheet and safety data sheet are on this page as downloads.
