Switching to an ester-based coolant is a bigger step than moving between semi-synthetics: different base oil, different behaviour in the tank, different maintenance rhythm — and a price per litre around 61 % above UNI301. That is a decision to test rather than to assume.
The 19-litre canister is the size for that test. It makes roughly 240 litres of working emulsion at 8 % — a full tank on one machine, run for long enough to see what the people at that machine say about it, which is usually the real reason ester is on the table.
EASYCUT VEG001, the same fluid as in the drum: a water-miscible coolant on a plant-derived ester base, biodegradable, boron-free, made in Germany. Concentration is set with the refractometer using the product-specific factor from the data sheet. Full description on the 208 l drum page.
If the answer is yes, the 208 l drum costs around 17 % less per litre — at this price level the largest saving the product offers — and the 1022 l IBC suits a central supply.
If the answer is no, that is a useful result too: the semi-synthetic range covers the same materials at a fraction of the cost. UNI301 for a mixed programme, PRO302 where aluminium leads, BASE201 for cast iron and steel.
